WILLS
WHAT IS A WILL?
A Will is a legal document that appoints a person(s) or organisation to administer your estate and sets out how your estate is to be distributed after your death. If you have minor children, it also appoints guardian(s) to care for them.
WHO NEEDS A WILL?
You do. If you die without a Will your estate will be administered and distributed in a manner determined by the law and not by you. A Will allows you the opportunity to appoint the person(s) you want to raise your minor children. Without a legal and up-to-date Will, the appointment could be made by the Family Court and not by you.
WHY IT’S GOOD TO HAVE A WILL?
It’s important you have a legal and up-to-date Will to ensure that your estate is protected and distributed according to your specific requirements. Your Will is the most important document you will ever sign. It provides clarity and calm in a time of considerable stress for family and friends. A Will can minimise estate taxes and avoid lengthy probate processes. Not only can a Will legally protect your spouse, children, and assets, it also defines how you wish your life to be remembered after your death.
